Sue Smith (blogger of "Writing About Writing About
Jesus") wrote us to say:
"Hey Robert... Loved the book! I wrote about
your book in my blog today." Here's an excerpt
from her blog:
"...What I really enjoyed and what makes this
book different is that it uses great examples from
both secular and Christian songs and quotes a number
of accomplished Christian writers. I feel honored
to be quoted in a few chapters, along with the likes
of Lowell Alexander, Claire Cloninger, and Tony Wood,
for starters. I found myself reading with my pen in
hand so that I could underline things I wanted to
go back and refer to again."
"Robert Sterling's presentations at the composer
symposium in Atlanta were not only insightful and instructional
they were an inspiration to all who attended. His seminars
were the highlight of the week. His thoughtful approach
to teaching composition brings clarity to the craft
of arranging and song writing. Everyone left the event
challenged to reach a new level of excellence in their
writing."

I have known Robert Sterling personally and professionally
for 30 years. I love his talent and his heart for God.
I love his ability to articulate how his talent and
heart for God motivate him to create beautiful music
that is used every week in worship services around the
world.
For that reason, you and your Music & Worship Ministry
would benefit greatly from inviting Robert to stand
before you and tell you why he does what he does. In
doing so, your ministry would be encouraged, your ministry
would be challenged to become even better stewards of
the gifts God has given you, and your ministry would
appreciate hearing from one of today's great veterans!

I have had the opportunity to perform, conduct and
participate as a listener to Robert Sterling’s
gifted arrangements. Robert has a real pulse for the
Church and it shows in not only his arrangements but
it is also evident in his writing.
As a Minister of Music and Worship, I strive every
week to bring music that is current to the person’s
that are sitting in the pews-music that can touch
hearts and lead in worship. Roberts’s arrangements
are always a great help in accomplishing this goal.
His sensitivity and excellence in all that he does
translate in all settings.
I have had the honor of having Robert work with our
Sanctuary choir and witness his gifts in action. I
would encourage anyone that is reading this to contact
Robert and invite him to come and spend a day with
your Choir. He had a great impact and it will be something
you as a leader, and your Choir, will remember and
draw from for years.

For several years we've consistently been blessed
at Johnson Ferry by the music of Robert Sterling.
When beginning a selection with our choir team, I'll
often mention a specific arranger such as Robert and
seek to highlight how God uses these writers to create
wonderful music we can use in our ministry. In light
of that, it was particulularly enjoyable for us to
host Robert as a guest composer for a weekend with
those in our choir & orchestra and then follow
that up with a simple but dynamic concert featuring
Robert's music. It made the music we see in our hands
each week become more of a meaningful expression as
we were able to not only personally interact with
the composer but also hear intriguing stories of the
process behind how God created the music through Robert
Sterling."

Robert Sterling an incredible musician! He is one
of Christian music’s best songwriters, producers
and arrangers. I’d venture to say that every church
choir library in America has several of his songs and
or arrangements in it. I’ll tell you the truth.
Everything I know about songwriting, I learned working
side by side with Robert Sterling. We had the privilege
of writing songs like GOD IS ABLE and I HAVE SEEN THE
LIGHT together. Robert is a great teacher and fantastic
friend.

In years to come when we look back on the influence
of church music in worship, evangelism and church
growth, one name that will surface as a major influence
will be Robert Sterling.
As a committed Christian, Robert has maintained a
strong musical integrity with excellent compositions
and arrangements, which have been embraced by large
and small churches alike. He has been on the cutting
edge of music writing that embraces our heritage of
hymnody, and at the same time he combines fresh melodies
and rhythms to affirm contemporary praise and worship.
Robrt Sterling has been my dear friend for thirty
years and I know unequivocally that his life is consistent
with his music. As worship leaders and ministers of
music you would be well served to avail yourself of
viewing the music of our Lord through the skillful
pen of Robert Sterling.

I worked with Robert Sterling as far back as the early
'80s. Robert wrote arranged, conducted & co-produced
three Christmas albums with a wonderful orchestra
& chorus . (initially for KVIL Radio, then released
in syndication) The "collection" (from those
three recordings) continues to be used by many radio
stations across the U.S.. And even though it was produced
in the early '80s, the quality of music arrangements
and production of the 47 song collection has allowed
the material to remain as fresh today as it was back
then. I'd say that Sterling Music delivered and did
so superbly - and I'm grateful & still proud!
